Who Am I

  • Dr. Georgia J. Ohlberg was born on March 25, 1969 to George and Margaret Ohlberg. Dr. Georgia is one of eight siblings who were raised on a small farm near Hamilton, Missouri. From early childhood, Dr. Georgia had dreams and aspirations to some day become a doctor. After graduating from Penney High School in Hamilton Missouri, Dr. Georgia moved to Kansas City, MO where she resided for seven years while obtaining her degree. Along with studying to become a chiropractor at Cleveland Chiropractic College, Dr. Georgia also studied Acupuncture, Kinesiology, Nutrition, and TBM. She received her Doctor of Chiropractic Degree from Cleveland Chiropractic College in Kansas City in September 1994. Dr. Georgia opened Downtown Chiropractic in 1999 and has been co-owner of the practice with husband Sean LaFave ever since. At the same time, Dr. Georgia continues to further her education at Parker College of Chiropractic located in Dallas, Texas and has also been a participating Chiropractor with Maximized Living, INC. since February 2006. Dr. Georgia enjoys lecturing on topics such as nutrition, exercises, wellness, injury prevention and stress management.

There are certainly a lot of fad diets these days.  Many of these diets would have you eliminate much of your favorite foods and maintain habits that are next to impossible if you want to keep the weight off.  As such, it is simply impractical that any of these diets will provide a long term solution when it comes to weight loss.  Maximized Living Doctor Georgia Ohlberg recognizes this and discusses a few modifications that anybody can make if they are looking to shed some pounds and live a healthier life.

Timing is very important when it comes to eating.  The good news surrounding this is that you can still eat some of your favorite foods if you are careful about when you eat them.  The bad news surrounding this is that you can no longer eat those late night snacks of chocolate ice cream if you want to get that weight off.

So how do you know when the timing is right to eat certain types of foods?  Think about it this way – the earlier in the day that you eat something, the longer in the day you have to work it off.  However, certain foods trigger cravings for more unhealthy foods so you should be careful about eating those foods early in the day to prevent cravings throughout the remainder of the day.

Let’s talk about whole grain carbs – these are best to eat early in the day or before a work out as they provide you with energy and will burn slowly than their processed white counterparts.  As for foods high in proteins, these are best to eat after a workout to help speed muscle recovery.  Foods high in casein protein are good to eat before bed because they give nourishment to your muscles over the course of your fast.
